Fireworks 2011
High Wycombe Round Table held their annual Fireworks display on the 5th November 2011.
We started the day building the fire and setting out the field in anticipation of the many punters that we hoped would come and join us for our fantastic fireworks display. A lot of effort had been already put in by the man in charge of the event Mr Jamie Holderness, our Community Services Chairman. The weather was dry which in an event like Fireworks is essential and everyone was beavering away, either on wood collections or setting up the field with PA systems, fencing and lighting. Around lunchtime other community service clubs turned up to set up their own stalls selling food, drink and sparklers.
The picture below shows the High Wycombe Round Table team having a deserved lunch break.
The fire and field was set up by 2pm where tablers either went home for a rest or hanged around until the safety briefing at 4-30pm. The Gates opened at 5pm, after a slow start the cars came in by the dozen. The Mayor of High Wycombe arrived and was hosted by this years Chairman David Jackson and at 6pm was asked to light the fire. The button was pressed and the evening was truly under way. The fireworks were set off at 6-30pm for a spectacular 25 minute firework display. A fantastic event was held and all monies raised go back into the local charities of High Wycombe. We would like to thank the following groups who helped make this event a success. The High Wycombe Rotary Club, Lions, Roteract, WOTs, Tangent and Bucks Student Union.
