OAP Pub Run 2011

On Tuesday 11th October 2011 members of High Wycombe Round Table entertained the members of the St Andrew Church Lunch Club, based on Hatters Lane, High Wycombe.  The event is fondly known as the “OAP Pub Run” and is an annual event co-ordinated between Len at St Andrews Church and Community Services Chairman, Jamie Holderness.  This year we were honoured to have 25 OAPs in our company who were collected from their homes and brought to the High Wycombe Cricket Club by Table members.  The evening commenced with a very filling fish and chip supper, followed by a delicious apple pie and custard.  There were plenty of clean plates and dishes!  The main entertainment was the sing-song.  Everybody joined in to sing along with classics such as “White Cliffs of Dover” and “Peggy Sue”, through to more recent songs - “Waterloo” and “Is this the way to Amarillo”.  The evening finished with a rousing rendition of Queen’s “Don’s stop me now.”  A thoroughly enjoyable evening was enjoyed by all, and we look forward to next years event.
